Tanya Mellotte is a songwriter, composer, vocalist and producer from Scotland, currently based in Belfast. As a songwriter she has worked with a number of artists, including DAVID HOLMES for his UNLOVED music project, co-writing some tracks on their debut album “Guilty of Love”. Some of these co-writes appear in the Emmy nominated TV drama KILLING EVE, seasons 1-4. Tanya is part of the HEN HOOSE collective, who release ‘EP1’ in June 2024. This EP includes a track produced/co-written by Tanya. Other sync’d co-writes have appeared on the BBC (Lip Service) and Nike.com. A solo album is currently under construction.
As a composer, Tanya has scored a string of short films, including: HOMEBIRD (Best Debut Irish Short Fiction at Galway Film Fleadh 2022) produced by Out of Orbit Films, supported by NI Screen & Outburst Arts; MALCOLM, produced by Out Of Orbit Films; DEFROST produced by Poli Productions, supported by NI Screen and BFI; NOAH produced by Mount Wolf Films, supported by NI Screen; WHEN IT RAINS (Winner of the Marilyn Hyndman award, Docs Ireland 2023) directed by Daniel Ritchie.
As a vocalist Tanya has worked with MARK EITZEL and BERNARD BUTLER on Eitzel’s critically acclaimed album “Hey Mr Ferryman” and again with David Holmes on his “Holy Pictures” LP, (which includes a duet with Holmes), as well as with Japanese producers HANDSOMEBOY TECHNIQUE and HALFBY. Tanya has also appeared onstage with the likes of VAN DYKE PARKS, MARK GARDENER (Ride) and HAR MAR SUPERSTAR.
Other selected career highlights include recording 5 sessions for the legendary JOHN PEEL show on BBC RADIO ONE, playing live shows/DJing across Japan, USA, Europe & UK and appearing at festivals like GLASTONBURY, BESTIVAL and T IN THE PARK. Tanya has co-produced remixes for labels including Epic, Moshi Moshi and Saddle Creek. When not making music Tanya works in film & TV production, recent credits include Star Wars The Last Jedi, Game of Thrones and Succession.
